Who we are

Three arcs, one movement

MAMIKEU — the Association of the children of Marie Mikeu — was created on the initiative of all the children who lived with Marie Mikeu. Its mission: to contribute to the socio-economic development of educationally and economically disadvantaged people, in particular teenage mothers, widows and orphans, through training, education, mentorship, workshops, coaching and entrepreneurship.

The association takes root in the values of equity and equal opportunity. It runs on a voluntary basis: the members contribute, decide and carry out the projects on the ground, with schools, the town council and partner foundations.

Our story and local commitment

MAMIKEU (the Children of Marie Mikeu Association) was born of a shared resolve: to lastingly change daily life for disadvantaged families in rural Cameroon, and above all in the Fokoué subdivision and the village of Fomopea. Against socio-economic hardship and geographic isolation, we are a committed citizens' collective set on concrete, durable answers.

Our vision and strategic goals

We hold that autonomy and dignity are won through fitting local infrastructure and the passing on of skills. Our work rests on four pillars.

  1. Family empowerment

Helping rural households stand on their own through technical assistance, direct grants, practical training and access to education.

  2. Equity and solidarity

Building mutual-aid work founded on social justice, alongside those most vulnerable and most in need.

  3. Enterprise and the fight against poverty

Encouraging local economic initiative, income-generating activities (IGAs) and self-employment.

  4. Strategic partnerships

Promoting co-operation with associations, national and international NGOs and local institutions — the Fokoué Town Council among them — that share our values.
